LB puts up transitory housing in Talisay Cebu

In the months of November and December 2016,  twelve units of transitory houses were constructed at the site of LinkBuild’s future housing project in Sitio Caniba, Talisay City, Cebu.  The units are now occupied by ten families who are members of the Kimba Cansojong Homeowners Association, Inc. (KCHAI), with the remaining two units being used as satellite office of the Homeless People’s Federation Philippines. The ten families had to dismantle their existing houses in order to clear the access road to the landowner’s other property located behind the site.

USWAG Core Housing  - Final Batch Turnover

Dec. 23, 2016 | The last seven qualified clients of the USWAG Core Housing Project received the keys to their new houses in a turnover ceremony facilitated by LinkBuild  and the Homeless Peoples Federation Philippines Inc. (HPFPI). The event was held at the HPFPI Site Office in USWAG Subdivision, Brgy. San Isidro Jaro, Iloilo City.

Talisay Visit and Workshops

A team from LinkBuild and from Homeless People’s Federation Philippines (HPFPI) held several workshops and activities in Talisay City with their partner community, the Kimba Cansojong Homeowner’s Association (KCHAI). This is the second major stage of an ongoing process of jointly working with KCHAI to find sustainable solutions towards owning the land they have occupied for around 30 years, and having decent houses.

Los Amigos Core Housing Project a year after

One year after the turnover of the 46 core housing units in Los Amigos, a Post-project Reflection Workshop was conducted last September 23, 2016 at the Los Amigos Relocation Site. The workshop was mainly facilitated by David Hoffman, LB intern from DPU (Development Planning Unit London) and assisted by Vhal Libutaque, LB’s Project Development Officer and Ms. Arlene San Pedro, HPFPI Community Leader.

LinkBuild hosts participatory site planning workshop in Davao

The LinkBuild team recently hosted a site planning workshop as part of the development of a new site in the City of Davao. A series of interactive activities was facilitated by staff and volunteers from the Philippine Alliance and its partners, with over 70 participants attending the workshop on both days.

LinkBuild formulates its Strategic Plan for 2016-2021

LinkBuild, Inc. conducted a three-day strategic planning seminar to draft the institution’s plans of action for the next five years. Present in the activity were Board of Directors Mr. Marlon Palomo, President; Mr. Rolly Villanueva, Auditor and CoReACS Executive Director; and Mr. Carl Beray, member and TAMPEI President. LinkBuild staff and representatives from other Philippine Alliance institutions were also present to provide inputs for the planning.

LinkBuild, TAMPEI, HPFPI lead off STDM Training in 2 Cities

Two cities were selected as pilot areas for STDM implementation: (1) in Valenzuela City where HPFPI has conducted intensive citywide mapping, profiling and household survey of informal settlements and (2) in Muntinlupa City where TAMPEI and HPFPI have completed mapping activities in four barangays of District II – Sucat, Alabang, Cupang and Buli – under the World Bank Citywide Community Upgrading Strategy project. Data generated from these mapping activities is now ready for encoding, digitizing and validation under STDM. Meanwhile, to complete the citywide approach in Muntinlupa, mapping activities in four barangays of District I – Putatan, Tunasan, Poblacion and Bayanan – will be the undertaken under STDM.

LB Commences Market Research in Three Regions

In January 2016, a research team tasked to conduct feasibility studies on three properties being acquired through loans from Reall's Land Equity Asset Facility (LEAF), was created by LinkBuild together with TAMPEI and HPFPI. Market research consultant, Maria Lourdes Espinosa, was hired to lead the market study of current approved projects.
